Pittsburgh: Ceremony

Ceremony is a Pittsburgh Gothic/Industrial/New Wave club night hosted by the DJs of The Night Shift. In the summer of 1997, Ceremony takes place Wednesday nights at Club Laga in the Pittsburgh neighborhood of Oakland.

Ceremony ran from roughly the mid 90s to the mid aughts. The author attended regularly from roughly 2000 through to the retirement of the club night in 2008. During the author’s time, Ceremony was hosted on Saturday nights from 9pm to 2am and, over the course of the aughts, moved from Club Laga (the fourth floor of the Strand Theater building) to The Upstage (the second floor), where it remained until the Strand Theater closed in 2006. The night then moved downtown to Pegasus, where it shifted around in the schedule a bit before finally settling down, eventually ending its run in the Saturday night slot (if memory serves).
