Thaddeus Gallahad

A traumatic Awakening in the summer of 1997 was just the beginning of Thad’s emotional problems. The disappearance of most of his Pittsburgh friends a few weeks later compounded his issues and, while he zombied his way through art school and into the workforce, he never quite regained the paranoid zeal he once shared with his best friend Ornix. He spent the next five years pummelling his higher self into oblivion with drugs and alcohol – a method of “self medication” that ultimately failed spectacularly.

Thad has always had some measure of psionic ability, even prior to being “noticed” by the River Guardian. In the mid 1990s he and Ornix were the focus of Templar interest, as they fit many of the recruitment conditions stipulated in the Waking God Protocols.

Ornix Khan

Ornix doesn’t let trivial things like ethics and morality get in the way of his loyalties or sense of reality. A longtime friend of Thad and a fellow “victim” of the Templar Waking God Protocols, Ornix has a long-standing hatred of the regenerating Templar field agent Beef Knuckleback and an even longer-standing mental link with Thad.

While generally less impulsive than Thad, Ornix strongly prefers to solve his problems with violence whenever possible. In his mind, the Templar are the “Them,” a vast hidden covert organization on a par with the CIA or the Mafia.

Raven Lockheart

A South Jersey punk with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a Templar-forged Master’s degree for field work, Raven posed as a high school guidance councillor during the early stages of the Waking God Protocols. She quickly tired of the assignment and transferred to field work, where she does the same thing without the dress code or the whiny teenagers.

Between Dead City Radio and The Dualist, Raven dropped about a hundred pounds and started partnering with Tantek.

John West

The first extraterrestrial human to be born on Terra. Home-schooled by Templar, he left the organization in 1997 citing management issues and took the Daedalus with him.

John is an incredibly talented Navigator, having received the gene from both of his parents along with a heaping helping of finely-tuned energy field sensitivity from his mother. A combination of natural ability and years of practice have made him one of the fastest FTL operators on record. He uses this ability to run a freight service, ferrying art and cultural artifacts from the Terran Annex to clients all over civilization, typically returning with heaps of electronics, designer clothing, small arms and ammunition.

Jason Whitehouse

The king of social engineering, the crown prince of noise, and a self-described “Post-American Electro-Snob.” Jason has a deep interest in industrial, electronic, ambient, metal and gothic music, and a well-researched interest in radio and telecommunications. While school is in session, Jason runs an ultra-low-powered unlicensed radio station – dubbed Dead City Radio – out of his schools student apartments. He uses the station to inflict his musical taste on others, though he also broadcasts school news and the occasional request.
