20100130 (5) – The “It’s a natural musk” line was originally slated for panel five, but that made panel four feel totally superfluous. So it was moved up there, didn’t fit, and wound up straddling 3 and 4 instead. It’s a problem with retroscripting – one you’ll see every so often in The Dualist. It’s ugly, but it doesn’t happen often enough to be considered a Major Problem.

That aside, this is STILL the ugliest page of the entire project.

20101225 – Original page metadata:

Funny how the first use of CG in DCR is coupled to the worst lineart in the entire comic. I think I was out of bristol and drawing on xerox paper, or some similar bullshit excuse.

Rewritten a bit between strips and page, as the script for the strips sucked ass. This is better. Much, much better.

=====================

2008.04.19 – Even after extensive surgery – we’re talking well over an hour of corrective work in two passes over two days – this is still the Worst Page Of DCR. Not bad enough to merit a complete redraw, but damned near. The biggest change – beyond the overall cleanup of Whitehouse – is that panel 11 has been de-Gontermanned. It makes me want to throw up. Hell, the fact I ever thought that was excusable art makes me want to go back in time and punch myself.

Even with the horrors of panel eleven, this page is still loads better than The Worst Page Ever. May there never be another!

20101225 – Original strip metadata:

[Note – “strips” 046 through 057 are counted as ‘static’ in the original strip run of the chapter.]

Strip 058, 20060529

Six month break? Oops.

The rest of finals is scripted. One of those nights where the current ATC page is almost done – one friggin’ panel is being uppity and I’ll be needing the rendering hardware for other tasks shortly, so it’s as good a time for DCR as any.

Strip 059, 20060530

There’s a reason I sunk a ton of time into modeling psyobs – I went nuts with the equipment and modeled all of it, not just what was going to be in-shot.

Because I knew I’d eventually be able to use it in DCR.

Planning++

Also, currently browsing the Stuff Sucks archives. Good stuff.

Strip 060, 20060531

The contents of that tape will be revealed at the appropriate time. >:)

Man do I need to buy some new microns.

Strip 061, 20060630

Listening to Robert Drake spinning Land Of The Lost on the wxpn stream (Philly radio doesn’t reach this side of the state, unfortunately!), which kicked me in the ass hard enough to get another strip out.

FINALLY.

The last time I had enough strips (4) for a hardcopy, it was Pumpcon. Nothing like an eight month delay.

Line quality sucks – I’m low on bristol and made the awesome tactical error of drawing and inking on copier paper. I don’t think I’ll be doing that again any time soon!

Mastering notes, 2016.12.07 – Replaced screen contents in panels eight and nine with the original title card graphic and some actual static. Tweaked dialogue in panel three and rewrote the line overlapping panels three and four. Did some spot-patching of Whitehouse to make him somewhat consistent at the top and bottom of the page. This is still the worst page of Dead City Radio but at this point I think it’s been worked over enough to be presentable.
