20141206, 02:58 – “Emergency” re-shoop as part of the edit of details -20- and -21-. Dug into a .psd from December 1st 2004 (TEN YEAR OLD DATA!) and edited panel one to show something vaguely resembling a two doored car instead of something obviously resembling a four doored sedan.
Fun fact: Ornix was originally driving a Ford Grenada. This was changed to “some kind of car” for this scene and was “revealed” to be a late-model Lincoln that did not fit at all for continuity when I made the “beef bonus” pages in the wake of the first edition of The Dualist. While working on Observer Effect I happened onto a useable model of a Dodge Charger and that became the canon hoopdi. It’s been edited into details as of a couple of hours ago and now it’s being thoroughly implied here. Aside from the shirt edit this is the first major surgery this scene has had so I suppose I’m fine with that. This started off as a three page edit, now it’s five and hopefully that’s all there is to it!
Second Edition Metadata
While Ornix appears to have been driving a completely different vehicle during its brief appearance later, I’ve never thought much of replacing it for this page. Too much to rework. Unlike, say… switching this page from 4:3 to 16:9.
Counting the one-panel “channelling” appearance at the beginning of this chapter, the “car” Ornix drives is a total of three vehicles – in clarity it’s a minivan, in this scene it’s a nondescript hoopdi, and in its final appearance, it’s a 2002 Lincoln town car. At the time, it was the only useable royalty-free vehicle I could find. Retconning it into this chapter would suck.
The Ornixmobile is gloriously inconsistent. And staying that way.
