20100201 (5) – (also 20100202) – Done at 0111; on the phone with xeno and have been since roughly 2230 or so. Blurb to follow.

Right. On the phone with xeno until 0310 in the morning. My phone died (first time I ran the iPhone battery dry), his internet was turned off, and then his phone died. Five-plus hour telecommunications hangout and bull session and *bip!*

Completed the base lettering for this done before he called; did the type bubbles and tails and some cleanup during… then filed it at some point during the conversation. We discussed other forms of filing as well, which forms what I hope is a positive lead-in to a potentially harrowing bit of paperwork I’ll need to be dealing before I can truly consider this section of life – “life 1.0,” if you will – to be Complete.

The rewrite is done. Will figure out the most efficient means of mass upload after I wake up; aim to have pages in place at some point Tuesday or Wednesday.

Then it’s website and new material – rather that happens before or after xeno’s scheduled mid-February visit remains to be seen.

Not sure how I feel about the type in panels five and six – maybe there should be more tails… but it feels cluttered already. Will make a final determination in the morning. At that point, The Rewrite will be COMPLETE.

The birds will be back in Chapter Two.

For serious.

2008.04.19 – Cropped and cleansed. One of the biggest alterations made during this operation is Whitehouse’s glasses – they are now consistently opaque (with the exception of a close-up or two), and consistently thick-framed.

Ph34r teh Curtis.

Seemed like a good time for a font bump- dialogue is currently being processed at six points, and seems like a decent balance between space and legibility.

Other than mentioning that this was originally scripted as six panels, there’s not much else to add – I’m in an incredibly foul mood (for “good” reason) and would just as soon not befoul the ‘post’ with an inordinate volume of pewp. The panel condensation means I might be able to wrap reveille in another three strips, instead of four or five.

:D!

Strip 012, 20050920

Jerkcity totally ate my balls.

I know, I know, welcome to 1998, etc. Never had occasion to bother with the archives until now.

Despite the ball-eating, I actually have two more strips in the bag and ready for deployment on Wednesday and Thursday. I might just go with static or an intro splash thinger for the next micro-arc, as it exists in a hazy, ill-defined limbo with three or four key points I want to touch on. I imagine there’ll be a pause between scenes, as I’m now backlogged on scripts for both of the comics I’m working on.

DCR requirements are a good deal looser than ATC’s, so The Strips Will Flow.

Strip 013, 20050921

This strip was prepared 20050920 for deployment on 20050921, proving it’s possible to actually work ahead with DCR, which means it may actually be possible to do this and ATC at the same time, at least in the eyes of the reader. Ph34r.

In other news, a full NoDoz totally kicks my ass. I’d been doing halves to practically no effect – we’re talking a vague stirring around the temples as opposed to the fullblown low-cap short term memory ZING! of The Real Thing.

Strip 014, 20050922

This strip was prepared 20050920 for deployment on 20050922.

Coincidentally the Autumnal Equinox and the end of the first micro-arc. CALL THE ENCLAVE (drunkeness, plotting).

DCR’ll make sense faster than ATC did, I promise – starting normal building up to abstraction (minor branching off of one core plot thread) as opposed to starting neck deep in the middle (three-plus parallels).

Mastering notes, 2016.12.05 – Panel three: made a minor dialogue adjustment and rebuilt Jason’s coffee mug.

Cast

  • Jason Whitehouse’s redneck roommate. Curtis isn’t a terribly complex individual, and is in many was the archetypical art student – interests include but are not limited to video games, anime, Star Trek, tabletop gaming...

  • The king of social engineering, the crown prince of noise, and a self-described “Post-American Electro-Snob.” Jason has a deep interest in industrial, electronic, ambient, metal and gothic music, and a well-researched interest in radio...
