20141223, 09:55 – Most of the logging for the redux of this page is part of the metadata for the previous page. Both pages are being processed at once so it just makes sense to do it that way – by the same token the CG directory for the scene is in that page directory as well. I thought about reconstituting the whole thing from the original CG files but this is a case where it makes as much if not more sense to just start over.
20141224, 10:55 – Oh, yeah. This page was a bit more work than the previous. While most of it actually went to plan I struggled with panel one for awhile before hitting on the shot that’s in use – fortunately it works well with the rest of the layout. The idea with these two pages was to replace a straight up and totally hideous A to B with art dammit – a thing this chapter needs.
14:12 – You can see the original page in the attendant blog post.
Original page metadata:
Mmmm. BTS spacefold.
If, like my coworker, you’re wondering what the thing in panels four and five is… see here, here, aaaaand here for in-use shots of the Cheops CSM.
Last page for awhile – time to model the rec area.
08:31 <xeno> XD
08:31 <xeno> i forgot they were floating around out there
08:31 <xeno> that rules
Though the Cheops and the Terran Templar defensive “net” (which is really more of a “sharp stick”) are a relatively minor part of the story, they’re still a part, even if it’s just for a laugh in this chapter.
20080608 – Okay, yeah. It’s been almost two months since I’ve posted anything new. I took the first three weeks of that “off,” then I spent the next four modeling the rec area. It looks great, but it takes forever to render…. worse, I completely biffed the first batch of renders (the panels of the next page) and had to re-render parts of all of them. Which has, as I’m sure you can imagine, slowed things down considerably.
That’s been sorted, fortunately. The next two pages are rendered and the one after is chugging away. I’m currently planning on rendering the entire scene (or at least four of the five pages) before I start with the linework – it’ll be more of a wait, but once I get rolling there won’t be any production bottlenecks. Or I could just say screw it and start plugging away before the sun rises. Either way, the plan is to have a page up on the fourteenth or fifteenth at the latest.
