The “War on Terror” pool plays no role in the story beyond grounding it in 2002. If it did, it would be a betting game between Greg and Naomi (having assessed the situation through public sources and having watched The Beast and Rambo III), with West and Xand chipping in to keep it interesting. There’s a reason Naomi’s winning – out of the crew, she’s the only one with Real Military Experience. You’ve doubtless noticed that the Templar aren’t really military… and while Greg is a souped-up Hypercommando, Heirotus Corporate Security (and Heirotus Colonial Authority) is a far, far cry from taking carbine fire in a poppy field hundreds of miles from the nearest toilet or telephone.
Not that that’s the experience Naomi’s had, mind you… but if you tattooed POOR IMPULSE CONTROL onto her forehead, grabbed her by her beltloops and flung her into a Marine Corps barracks, nobody would notice.
