20130707, 15:26 – The Beavis & Butthead page.

I tried to watch the new series when it debued. The original is a fairly prominent piece of mid-to-late 90s culture, especially in the experience of anyone my age. It hasn’t aged well – I went into a viewing having logged zero seconds of Jersey Shore and came out with more than that, which is entirely too much and reason enough to never watch the new Beavis & Butthead again, thank you. I’ll stick with the original. Or, now that I’m all adult and stuff, Aeon Flux.

So yeah, at the moment it would appear that the entire magnets-in-shoes thing set up Thad and Ornix to chuckle like idiots. I’m fine with this. Thad’s backpack has moved since earth -9- (wow look at those elbows), and… uh… yeah. That’s about it, really. Transitional page is transitional. Fits nicely between 13 and 15 and really lets the scene breathe just enough to feel like it’s a scene as opposed to a pneumatic THOOB! through an outline.

Last week I mentioned I might be going to Anthrocon. That was before I got sun poisoning from eight solid hours through central and northern PA on Wednesday and another eight solid hours through northern and central PA on Thursday. I went anyway, and if I’m still in Pittsburgh next year I’ll go again and make an effort to do more than give ursulav all of my money. Not that I didn’t enjoy the experience, mind you – Ursula Vernon is totally awesome and I’m glad I managed to not trip over my bootlaces while saying hello and buying stuff. All told the experience was a net positive, and hopefully translates into experience applicable to the Pittsburgh Comicon, coming up later this summer. And unlike Anthrocon, not actually in Pittsburgh.

I doodled a bit of environment design for the scene after this one while waiting for the Dealer’s Room to open at AC. Aside from that there was no other work on ATC this week, and likely no more after I post this today – while wondering around the con I finished negotiations with one illustration client and got a “ready for round two” from a second via my SMRATFON, so after yesterday’s I’ve Got Sun Poisoning Dammit I’m Taking The Day Off festivities, this morning and the rest of today are dedicated to Not The Comic. Worst case scenario the rest of this month won’t be either – I’ve got one page left in the buffer. After that, we’re moving to biweekly or possibly even monthly until I can get 16 and 17 sorted, the environment for 18-24 built, and 18-24 into renders. This week should determine my schedule for the rest of July and probably August, so I should have a firmer idea of what sort of time will be available for production by this time next week. Heck, if my inbox stays empty I’m going to have a lot of time to spend on ATC!
