The initial background prep was done earlier this week, in concert with the previous page. Camera “matching” and basic setup work was done early Saturday afternoon. I spent the rest of the day hanging out with my mom – lunch, a hike in the park, Target (new battle shorts!), Super 8. Pencils, inks and cleanup Sunday afternoon, then a father’s day phone call followed by Thai with a good friend, base coloring, assembly, and lazy shading-and-DVDs. The page would have been done earlier, but hey – birthday weekend and all that. If I’m ever gonna take it slow and easy, this would be the day.
I’m 32, and I’ve been on the wagon for three weeks. While I’d previously stated elsewhere that getting a page done would be my present to myself, sobriety is the real gift.
The page dialogue diverges a bit from the workbook script – sanding some rough edges, minor tweaks, that sort of thing. The fact is this leg of the script could have used some more tightening before I committed it – and rather than pull the bus over for a rewrite (and re-layout and possible re-shoot), I figure I’ll do that tightening along the way. It’s a perfectly useable script, mind you – it just needs a nudge here, an edit there.
That’s it for now. Intense weekend. Short blurb. I’ll have some notion as to the shape of this coming week and the rest of the month tomorrow afternoon, and how that’ll translate into page production.
As usual, expect one when you see one!
