The operation was a success, but the patient is a jackass.
Whatever passed between Inga and Ornix was cause for her to slap him out of the panel – any harder and she may well have knocked him out of the page entirely.
The last panel-sized sound effect was either target -20- or observer effect -5- depending on how you slice it – in the latter case the panel is the sound effect so I dunno if it counts or not. You decide! In either event, Thad is rather conveniently hiding behind the undercut of the C, which very slightly reduced the line art requirements for the page.
Creatively editing around a psychic event while focusing on the results isn’t just narrative laziness – it’s also narrative efficiency. We’ll see what the process looks like in a couple of weeks with Thad – showing the inside of Ornix’s head would lob an unhealthy amount of irrelevance into the story and in my opinion the implied unpleasantness is funnier without specifics.
Ornix’s question in panel four is valid – while the bookshelf was mentioned previously, it was only in the context of the volume on Navigation. While it’s safe to assume that this was covered previously the line sets up the the next page and the last panel checks in with the happenings IN SPAAACE to cover up fumbling with the bookshelf mechanism.
The next two pages have been drawn and cleanup finished on the 19th. I still need to shade them – they’re both fairly straightforward but I’m currently juggling three-plus projects at once not counting ATC in a vain effort to make rent and pay this months outstanding bills (all of them) so at this point I expect next week’s page to be shaded Day Of. Speaking of which…
Next week: Describe in single words only the good things that come into your mind about your mother.
