Annathena Val

Civilians · Revised 2012.08.29 @ 03:36 ·

BMC Long Term Care patient 6656, Annathena Val (hence Val) is a Cognitive Empath, born with an incredibly rare neurological disorder that arises only under a "perfect storm" of genetic abnormalities - a condition afflicting roughly one out of every ten billion humans. In simple terms, Val's brain is a "receiver" that tunes in to the strongest signal in relative range - though in this case the signal isn't a radio tower, it's the human mind - and the "range" seems to have more to do with the strength of the transmission than its proximity.

Annathena Val is just like you.

Curtis

Civilians · Revised 2012.08.29 @ 13:19 ·

Jason Whitehouse's redneck roommate. Curtis isn't a terribly complex individual, and is in many was the archetypical art student - interests include but are not limited to video games, anime, Star Trek, tabletop gaming and a broad spectrum of horror films. Curtis works part time at a porno theater on the North Side.

Greg Auriga

Daedalus · Revised 2012.08.29 @ 03:12 ·

A Heirotus defector and the only survivor of the Hemera, Greg lives in constant fear of being "recovered" by Heirotus. Having played a critical role in John West's decision to leave the Templar, Greg provides engineering and weapons support for his benefactor's merry band of misfits in exchange for black market cybernetic maintenance and a really good place to hide.

John West

Daedalus · Revised 2012.09.06 @ 03:35 ·

The first extraterrestrial human to be born on Terra. Home-schooled by Templar, he left the organization in 1997 citing management issues and took the Daedalus with him.

John is an incredibly talented Navigator, having received the gene from both of his parents along with a heaping helping of finely-tuned energy field sensitivity from his mother. A combination of natural ability and years of practice have made him one of the fastest FTL operators on record. He uses this ability to run a freight service, ferrying art and cultural artifacts from the Terran Annex to clients all over civilization, typically returning with heaps of electronics, designer clothing, small arms and ammunition.

Aeon (Avatar)

Entities · Revised 2012.08.30 @ 16:01 ·

The astral manifestation of the starship Aeon's organic components. Michael Yang perceives the ship's avatar in the form of a dog (species unknown, possibly a wolf or the equivalent of a German shepherd, with the coloration of an NBE). As the Aeon AI has been deprived of much of its higher functions, this perception could be considered an accurate translation of the ship's capabilities.

Aza'hel

Entities · Revised 2012.08.29 @ 14:34 ·

A higher being with immense telekinetic and gravimetric abilities - powers and talents which are slowly manifesting in his physical incarnation, the Addicaine Alias Aza'hel.

Seems to have a thing for Dyluck.

Addicaines

Heirotus · Revised 2012.08.29 @ 14:21 ·

The public face of the Heirotus Eugenics Program, Addicaines are genetically engineered Heirotus metahumans trained from birth to do whatever it is that needs doing - anything from the blackest of black ops to corporate security and everything in between. Roughly half of the personnel aboard the Sabrosa are part of the Heirotus Eugenics Program. While all of them are technically Addicaines, the term officially applies to the soldiers and pilots that form the Corporate Security Detatchment.

Greg Auriga and Alias are Addicaines.

Aleph Stevens

Heirotus · Revised 2012.08.30 @ 18:09 ·

The previous incarnation of Jason Whitehouse, and a contemporary of Brandon James and Michael Yang around the time of the MBO-1 incident. A potent psychic and self-proclaimed "conditional past-life regressor," Aleph used her unique capabilities to assist anthropologists and xenoarcheologists before finding herself on the Heirotus payroll.

Captain Helenna Spenc

ICG · Revised 2012.08.29 @ 02:45 ·

Interstellar Cartography Group Captain and Commander, ICG Hemera.

Favoring a sedate, hands-off style of command and all but immune to the the mental stress of deep-range long duration cartographic deployments, Captain Spenc has made a career out of cat-herding the cartographers, engineers and technicians that typically crew ICG vessels. Being on loan to Heirotus has made her irritable, and she views the Addicaine group's relentless, regimented approach to optimization and efficiency as a threat to her slow-and-easy command of the Hemera. Over the course of the cruise she's developed a bi-polar personality - laid back with the ICG personnel and a total control freak with the Heirotus-assigned crew.

Ed Horstmann

ICG · Revised 2012.08.29 @ 02:49 ·

Deep range cartography is hardly a prime assignment for a talented Navigator. Talented Navigators run courier missions, recon missions, combat operations and warships. The more talented individuals can write their own ticket and have their pick of assignments - and perks, within reason. The truly gifted Navigators spend more time in the docking queue than they do in space. Ed isn't at the top of that list. He's nowhere near it, in fact. Capable of a 0.5 submersion with booster drugs, Ed meets the famously lenient minimum depth requirement for ICG Navigators. He occasionally puts his bare minimum talent to bare minimum use, flipping off General Relativity and hauling the ship into Am whenever the job requires it. Which is just often enough to keep him in the second-lowest bonus bracket for flight pay.

Aleksis Murnau

Templar · Revised 2012.08.29 @ 15:05 ·

One of several resident psychotherapists at Bethlehem Medical Centre. A trained psionicist with a specialty in stealth spelunking and event recovery, Murnau can poke around the average mind without raising much of a ruckus. This is a nearly moot point, as any sort of probing requires physical contact with the target... but in some cases, her capabilities are an invaluable contribution to the therapeutic and intelligence gathering mission of the Templar.

Aleksis is trained in the use of a Cycom sensory output harness- a device that uses a carbon computer to visualize the optical and aural processing centers of the brain. This hardware complements her psionic abilities by enabling anyone with the proper equipment to literally see the thought processes of another individual.

Balthazar Kowalski

Templar · Revised 2012.08.29 @ 03:38 ·

Mentioned only by name, Kowalski is Greymalkin's long-suffering Deputy of Operations, tasked with the day-to-day paperwork and legal requirements of a secret interplanetary militia operating under the nose of Terran authorities. A lawyer by trade, Kowalski is also tasked with the "translation" of Templar cover stories and the substantiation of the "background" and working credentials of offworld and pocket universe Templar assigned to Thule Garrison.
