20141224, 11:27 – Panel five has been a Worst Panel Ever for technical reasons since forever. Xand’s chair needs to move right and doesn’t have rails to do it so the engineering console telescoped out and looked fucking stupid. So I HAVE FIXED THAT. FINALLY.

I thought about doing this previously, but ran into a problem: There’s something different about how this version of the 3d software handles photometric lights, so the replacement render is darker and warmer than the original render. This means the replacement render required additional photoshopping to move into the same neighborhood as the rest of the scene. The replacement has issues but I can live with the results.

This at the expense of avoiding showing the chair tracks on Xand’s console. Ever. In 2007 that was an issue; approaching the final installment of the chapter it’s not, so the shot can be replaced without additional modeling work.

It’s not a good shot, but at least it’s no longer a worst shot.

The green hair’s one of those Plot Points that’ll actually matter a great deal later – but at the moment, nobody else is in a position to notice it so there’s no point in focusing on it.

The static in panel one? I finally got done pissing around with noise/mosaic wankery in photoshop and captured a minute or so of a blank VHS tape. If there’s a better way to scare up good-looking static, I’m not aware of it.

So, hyperspace. You’ll get a better look at it on the next page.

20120819, 00:04 – Dyluck reverted to Thad-in-Val’s-body. Over the course of DCR it became extremely clear that Astral Is Not Am. Flickers of green hair are important plot indicators, and in this case the green hair was extremely misleading.

While I was at it I fixed up Xand’s jaw a bit in panel five.
